Postdoctoral Position: Applications
of Bose Einstein Condensation |
|
|
|
The Precision Spectroscopy Laboratory at York
University has an opening for a postdoctoral fellow for 1-2
years. Our laboratory was the first in Canada to achieve a Bose
Einstein Condensate. We are presently optimizing our QUIC trap
and plan to study the condensate in an optical lattice. Work
designing an array of microtraps to be fabricated using lithography
is also commencing. This has intriguing implications for quantum
information processing. The ideal candidate should have completed
a PhD in experimental atomic, molecular or optical Physics and
should have experience in working with either CW or pulsed lasers,
vacuum systems and interfacing various electronic components
such as lock-in amplifiers, transient digitizers etc. with computers.
Experience using diode lasers would definitely be an important
asset. The successful candidate should be prepared to work with
several MSc and PhD students as well as supervise undergraduates.
Interested candidates are asked to submit their vitae along
with 2 letters of reference to W. van Wijngaarden. |
